    What outside temperature are you talking about using this in? Eg. Most of the nights in winter where I am in NSW are around -5 degrees Celsius. Should I be using one of these? Thanks. Andrew.

    • @MichaelRoninTV
      @MichaelRoninTV 12 часов назад

      @@knighty690 so I prefer to use it anything under 10c to be honest but I often get away with not using it because it also just depends on the mist/fog in the air too. Where I am, it doesn't get crazily cold at night (5-7c) so I usually just use the low or medium heat setting. I would say for -5c I'd definitely be using one, especially if you're shooting over long periods of time :) For the small price to pay for one, it could literally save your images

    The f stop is not the size of the entrance pupil itself, it is the relation between that size and the focal length. Meaning a shorter focal lenght will have a smaller entrance pupil at the same f stop than a longer lens will. This usually is why you have the f stop gstting bigger the further you zoom in, as the same f stop needs a bigger opening for the longer focal length. This also means that a constant aperture lens usually coloses the aperture as you zoom out, to compensate.

    • @MichaelRoninTV
      @MichaelRoninTV 26 дней назад

      @@trulsdirio nonetheless, put simply and basically like explained in the video; it is the size of the hole within the aperture blades. Whether F2.8 is exactly equal to another lenses F2.8 is another story altogether

  • @MichaelRoninTV

    I just wanted to clear up some errors I made in this video. Firstly, the 0.9 GND is actually 3 stops of light and not 0.9 like I mentioned in the video. The second thing, is that the inlaid ring is used on it's own instead of the normal adaptor ring. It helps to use the inlaid ring if you're using thicker filters or stacking them to avoid vignetting. The instructions weren't 100% clear on this but I apologise for the incorrect information in the video.

  • @peterbuitelaar8543
    @peterbuitelaar8543 Месяц назад

    Read the instructions first? The inlay ring is a separate magnetic ring, needs to be placed with the 3D tool on the lens. Since it is an inlay ring it will be more thin and avoids vignetting, especially with two filters, compared to the standard ring. Usually the ring will stay on the lens. The GND filter with 0.9 is not 0.9 of a stop but 3 stops.

    • @MichaelRoninTV
      @MichaelRoninTV Месяц назад

      That makes sense, thank you. The instructions were horrible and it looked like it wanted me to use them both together, I worked it out after though.

    • @MichaelRoninTV
      @MichaelRoninTV Месяц назад

      Although I've never done it personally, I believe it can be done in a similar way but with a really long shutter speed such as 30-60 mins. You would just have to make sure the foreground didn't get overexposed during that time. Another way might be to do it the same way as digital by taking multiple long exposures and perhaps stacking the negatives when developing. Again, I've never done it on film personally but I think those options would be feasible :)

    You don’t want to set focal ratio too wide as this will cause abberations and loss of sharpness. If less widest opening is 2.8 do 3.5

    • @MichaelRoninTV
      @MichaelRoninTV Месяц назад

      I do agree with this but it does depend a lot on the lens. Even at wide open on my F2.8, it's still quite sharp with no CA. It's often more of a problem with even faster lenses like F1.4, etc. I usually suggest people with lenses that fast to just stop down to F2. Great point you raise though nonetheless :)
